Image Production
Black and White Images:
For Archival Inkjet Prints:
Capture is by film or digital imaging. Output for prints is via an Epson Stylus Pro 3800 printer or P800 printer on Epson Velvet Fine Art Paper using Epson Ultrachrome ink.
Image canvas size is typically 13 x 19 inches. Exact image size is adjusted to produced 1 1/2 inch margins. Other image sizes are available on request.
Platinum-Palladium Images:
These were generally captured with film using either medium format (6 x 4.5 cm) or large format (5 x 7 inches) equipment. A few were captured digitally. Image size on prints is either 5 x 7 or 8 x 10. Images were hand coated on Arches Platine paper, contact printed with UV lightbox, and archivally processed using standard platinum-palladium techniques that yield a warm, attractive tonality.
Unless specifically requested, prints are unmatted.
For Gravures:
Images are printed directly on steel plates with photopolymer coating. The plates are processed using ultraviolet light to make an etched plate suitable for intaglio printing. The plate is then inked with Charbonnel oil-based ink, hand-wiped, and placed in an etching press. Moistened Hahnemuhle copper plate paper is applied over the plate and it is pressed under great pressure onto the plate yielding an intaglio etching. All gravures are 15 x 11 inches in dimension with image size adjusted to fit.
